Several European countries release another record PV installation for 2022! There are the following countries

2023年3月16日

In order to alleviate the energy crisis, countries are promoting renewable energy development. 2022 is another year of record new PV installations, and every country is trying to decarbonize. Some countries have already announced their new installations for 2022, and Maysun Solar has compiled them in this article.

Germany to install 35% more PV in 2022

According to the latest data released by the German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur), Germany will install 7.19GW of PV systems in 2022, up 35.47% compared to 5.3GW in 2021. By the end of 2022, the country's cumulative installed PV system capacity will be 66.5GW. Bavaria leads the country with 20.9GW of installed capacity, followed by North Rhine-Westphalia (899MW) and Brandenburg (794MW).

PV accounts for 80% of new renewable energy in Spain

According to the local renewable energy association APPA Renovables, Spain installed 8.312 GW of new renewable energy capacity in 2022, including 4.281 GW of utility-scale solar, 2.64 GW of distributed PV systems and 1.382 GW of wind power. Spain's cumulative installed PV capacity has exceeded 25 GW.

Italy's new installations up 164% year-on-year

According to the latest statistics released by the Italian Photovoltaic Association (Italia Solare), as of the end of December 2022, Italy installed 2.48 GW of new PV in 2022, up 164% year-on-year, with an installed capacity of 25.05 GW, distributed among 1221045 projects. Residential projects account for the majority, with 87% of the cumulative installed PV capacity consisting of systems smaller than 12 kW. On a quarterly basis, the maximum installed capacity in the fourth quarter was 844 MW, up from 627 MW, 634 MW and 377 MW in the previous three quarters.

Portugal's new PV installations in 2022 far outstrip other renewables

Portugal's General Directorate of Energy and Geology (DGEG) data shows that Portugal will add 890 MW of new PV installations in 2022. it is reported that Alentejo is the region with the most new solar power, with 177 MW of new installed capacity. according to DGEG data, Alentejo will account for 48% of the country's solar power generation in 2022. By the end of 2022, Portugal's cumulative PV installation of 2.59 GW , exceeds the growth of all other renewable energy sources in the country since 2013.

UK to add 555 MW of solar in 2022

According to provisional government data, 555 MW of new PV capacity will be installed in the UK by the end of December 2022. 14.3 GW of cumulative capacity will be installed in the country, with more than 1.2 million units installed, up 4% from December 2021. Microgeneration projects of up to 4 kW in size installed on rooftops accounted for most of the growth.

Greek solar market to have three times more installed capacity in 2022 than in 2021

According to data provided by the Association of Greek Photovoltaic Companies (Helapco), 1.36 GW of new PV capacity will be added in Greece in 2022, with more than twice as much commercial and industrial installations as residential PV. These figures are preliminary, as the Greek renewable energy regulator Dapeep has not yet officially announced the number of PV deployments in 2022.

The Dutch electricity mix is slowly changing

The Netherlands has seen a significant increase in solar power in its electricity mix, from 1% in 2015 to 14% in 2022.
According to statistics recently released by the Dutch Association of Electricity and Gas Network Operators (Netbeheer Nederland), nearly 2GW of installed capacity of household PV systems will be installed in 2022. overall, the Netherlands will generate 7.3% of the EU's electricity from solar power in 2022.

Poland's energy transition is beginning to show results

Although coal has always been the main source of energy supply in Poland, in order to alleviate its dependence on coal, Poland is actively undertaking an energy transition and promoting renewable energy development. By the end of 2022, Poland's cumulative installed PV capacity had reached 12GW, with household PV plants accounting for 80% of the market share.

In recent years, with the acceleration of the global carbon emission reduction process, sustainable and clean energy has become a top priority, and the PV market has also ushered in a new dawn. 2022, the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, energy shortages, regional power restrictions and other factors have disrupted everyone's lives and made the PV market turbulent. However, from the data of PV installed capacity, countries are still trying to make the energy transition. The EU installed 41.4GW of PV systems in 2022, where some countries have not yet announced the specific data added in 2022.
Global PV demand continues to grow in 2023, with Germany having added 780MW in January, so let's wait and see what happens next.
